As with any problem, you have to know what’s wrong with your Etsy store before you can fix it. Otherwise, it’s like prescribing medicine without knowing the symptoms. You probably need more than one way to boost your sales. The following is the approach I would take.
If you have an Etsy store, but sales are slow, then you want to start with getting a critique of your shop by a seller who is doing well.
When I first opened my Etsy store several years ago, I went to Fiverr and hired 3 Etsy shop sellers who had 5-star ratings (found them using the search term “etsy critique”) to review my shop and give me advice. After acting on their suggestions, my sales started rising.
I’ve also used several other ways to drive sales on Etsy:
- Use a tool like eRank – FREE Etsy SEO, Keyword Research, Top Seller, and Trend Tools to learn the keywords buyers are using to find products like yours. Place these keywords in your product listing title, tags and description. Also use the keywords in your shop announcement and policy pages.
- Get product reviews from shopping bloggers. Not only will reviews get more eyeballs on your Etsy listings, the incoming links from popular sites will boost your ranking in Google search results. There are several online apps that let you identify influencers by category such as “shopping”. Heepsy has received favorable reviews and is the one I use.
- Have you had any sales and visitors to your Etsy store already? If so, there is a neat trick you can use to learn which keywords searchers used that resulted in sales. Go to your “Shop Manager” then click on the “Marketing” tab, and then “Search Analytics.” Etsy will display a history of the search terms used when visitors came to your listings.
You can sort the listings by conversions. After learning which keywords have the highest conversion rate, go back to your listings and make those keywords more prominent in your item listing’s title and as one of your tags. The first 45 to 60 characters in your title are the most important for SEO. - Offer free shipping through Etsy’s “free shipping guarantee.” When you enroll in that specific program, Etsy gives your listings priority in search results.
