The following is my answer to a question on Quora:

Before you hire someone to build your Etsy store, be aware that ony 2 – 3 products will not get you a desirable result from Etsy search. You need more like 50 to 100 listings to show up consistently in searches.
However, if you are using Etsy as a shopping cart and sending customers there from other marketing channels and not relying on Etsy shoppers than putting up the store makes sense. Etsy’s shopping cart is a trusted ecommerce gateway for online buying.
There are several sources for hiring people to help. Fiverr (dot) com is one. Etsy itself has listings from people who will do it for you. Upwork (dot) com and Freelancer (dot) com are also possible. On any of these search for “build etsy shop” or “create etsy store” or try similarly worded phrases until you get enough results that you can then sort them out according to expertise.
How much you pay is up to you. You will learn a lot about prices for this service just doing the research on the above sites. Look to these criteria when choosing a provider:
- lots of 5 star reviews from other satisfied Etsy clients. it’s critical to only work with someone who has experience with Etsy stores. there are plenty of “geeks” who will do work for hire but have little experience with Etsy
- know about SEO for Etsy. to get your product listings showing up in Etsy search results you have to use popular search terms related to your products. use EtsyRank.com or Marmalead.com to learn. having said that, remember you won’t show up with only 2 to 3 products.
- full description of what a provider will do for you. will they complete each product listing, will they fill in your store terms and policies. will they upload your photos.
- do they offer “do overs” (and if so how much) if you are not happy with first round of setup
Though you are looking to hire someone, the truth is you would be better served doing it yourself and learning the steps. No one will do things for your business with the same passion for your vision that you have.
